  • Brian & Mikayla

These two were from my hometown of Leucadia where I spent my childhood, so we really had a great connection.  I felt like they were long lost friends!  They had such a happy and positive and loving relationship, I was really grateful to be a part of their wedding day.  They had their ceremony down on Hanalei Bay on the sand near Pinetrees surf spot.  It was big surf that day , so all their surfer friends had great entertainment watching the waves before the real show began, the wedding of Mikayla and Brian!

  • Jason & Briana

I really loved being a part of Jason & Briana's beautiful wedding day.  They were so happy and easy going, savoring their joyful celebration that included a big bunch of friends & family. Briana was one of the most calm and light hearted brides I have seen considering she (along with her family) planned the whole event on her own! You could really feel the personal touch on everything.  It was a gorgeous afternoon down at Tunnels Beach (Makua is the Hawaiian name for the beach) at the base of the famous "Bali Hai" or Makana meaning "gift from Heaven".  Ceremonies here always feel so infused with the beauty, love and power of the spot and Briana and Jason where a perfect reflection of that.

  • Emiko & Jerry

Its been awhile since my last post!  I guess its because I have been doing lots of shooting and not as much post production, but I am back in the office enjoying some great images that I captured over the last fe weeks.  I'll be posting them as I work on them.

Emiko and Jerry had such a fun wedding, of family and friends and celebration, I was only with them for a few hours, we raced the setting sun and came out with a wonderful beach session and got them back in time for their reception which I am sure considering their lively group was sure to be quite a celebration!

  • Robert & Sara's Honeymoon

Honeymoon shoots are becoming some of my favorite shoots.  We had this session a few days after their wedding here on Kauai and it was a great chance to catch some fun and relaxed portraits of these two newlyweds.  We had a great time!

I applied some different enhancements and cropping on a few of the images, always experimenting!

  • Leanne & Jason

These two had such an enchanted wedding here at the Moana Mele Estate.   The afternoon was filled with a peaceful calm and gorgeous light.  Leanne and Jason were really fun and easy to photograph.  I really liked how Jason had his own creative ideas too, as I love to collaborate!

  • Caleb & Andrea

These two were such a wonderful power couple!  So easy going and comfortable. I loved hearing their story and being able to contribute to their special day.  It was such perfect afternoon and evening down in Poipu and I felt like I could have hung out with these two and "talk story" all evening!  But I try not and make it a practice to impose on my couple's honeymoon time!

  • Angela & Kevin

These two actually beat Tom & Katie to the punch when Kevin proposed to Angela on the Eiffel Tower a year or so before!  These two so adored eachother, Kevin could not keep the smile off his face whenever he looked at his beautiful bride.  I was happy to be a part of their day.

  • Sara & Robert

Their wedding was so beautiful, not only because they chose to have it at a spectacular location, the Moana Mele Estate, surrounded by a loving family, but because these two were so perfectly matched.  I felt as if I had known them for a long time, it turns out we had a lot in common too, like our love of roadtrips!!

Sara's dress was absolutely elegant and she wore it so well... We also did a honeymoon portrait a few days later where we got to let loose at Kee Beach, stay tuned for those!

  • A Bird in the Hand is Better than 2 in the Bush...

I had just received my new 50mm Nikon lens to go with my new Nikon D200, which I love, the lens that is, when I hear my daughter's shreak of joy in the next room.  My mother had a dove in her hand that had flown into our house.  This was all very exciting for a 3 year old of course.  Show and tell ended abruptly when she atempted to poke the little guy's eye out, as you can see in the photo below.  Our Chihuahua was very disturbed by the whole thing, shown by his nervous grin.

  • Beautiful Maha'ulepu

Wow, this was such a beautiful day, a beautiful couple and a really great shoot on the south shore of Kauai.  These two were adventurous and found this ideal location off the beaten path, and believe me the dusty, bumpy road proved it!  But so worth the trip as we literally had the beach to ourselves.  I really enjoyed spending time with these two who were so appreciative of eachother and their ceremony and shoot had such a calm and peaceful quality to it.  I really liked shooting against the awesome cliffs!  And yes, the sky really was that blue!!!
